I think the icon issue may just be your machine/browser. They work in chrome and firefox on my machine (tried both Linux and Windows Versions, no assurances for Mac)
drgrumbles: we already have the beta subdomain which will probably be where the site will be at when we move on, yes. As for the icons, try refreshing while clearing cache (Ctrl+F5). No worries - we're glad to have folks taking interest.
tried clearing cache and refreshing page, still have the same issue S:
drgrumbles NoScript? It sometimes blocks the font file or some of FontAwesome's css.
i dont have NoScript installed currently O:
i have been pondering about it, and wonder whether my fonts are corrupted or something?
wait, i fixed it, in the firefox config, there was an option of "allow pages to choose their own fonts instead of selections above"
ended up checking that box and all icons are working now, that was a rather strange issue.
drgrumbles Interesting. Did you disable that at some point? I'm pretty sure that setting is on by default.
So I may be in the minority but I'm not too keen on Anime crap so I'm trying to use the "Anime Filter" to, er, "filter" it out.
However, http://alpha.wallhaven.cc/wallpaper/2334 shit like this is still popping up in the "Latest" feed.
Is this the fault of the uploader? Or is it to do with the filtering system itself?
Loving the website so far. The only thing i can think of that would improve it for me would be an "At least" filter for wallpaper resolution.
iwhoart: Although I like reading manga I'm definitely with you on that there are way too many anime wallpapers flying around. Cases like your example are however indeed the uploaders fault. As you can see in the search settings there are three big categories, namely general, anime and porn (the last one is going to be changed to something more appropriate). So obviously we expect uploaders to put all anime wallpapers in the anime category. The one you linked is in the category general, where it doesn't belong.
MaouSenkrad: 'at least' resolution search settings are planned.
from memory i did, i remember when i left it checked, alot of websites i used that used to have normal fonts, changed to this absurd, strange ultra-bold type font which was really hard to read, turned it back on and the icons are perfect now, but stuck with the bold fonts on alot of other websites and whatnot again, not sure how to fix it.
i had also forced Arial before i put the setting back
i'd like to have a filter for landscape and portrait style pictures. i won't use portrait style anyway.
It's a really good start, still needs alot of improvments like a top page and saving [at least 1920x1080] in profile + Not loading full sized images on thumbnail pages coz that takes a lot of time. Nevertheless I can't wait :)
So I've been coming back here at irregular intervals to see if anything has been going on, definitely looking forward to the completed project.
I'm curious however, is there somewhere with detailed changes, e.g. a changelog where new features are posted/bugs are claimed fixed?
If not, it would be nice to have that up somewhere while it's in alpha/beta as I can't really tell what additions have been made myself. I've /think/ there's new animations on the icons at the homepage, but I'm not certain as like I say, irregular intervals.
Overall though I'm liking the site!
Kod: search settings per profile are planned. Thumbnails already don't load full wallpapers, no idea where you're getting that from. x)
hackur: There's no public changelog for now since summarizing all changes between alpha updates would be kinda tedious. There's a lot going on though not all of it is visible. Once we have forums there will be some more organized threads with bugreports and detailed updates.
why are frogs so happy? because they eat what's bugging them.
will the wallpapers from wallbase be copied to wallhaven ?
kishan: yes
All the wallpapers? or just the most popular ones/ ones uploaded by some of the more well know users etc...
I think we have around 1.6 million or so.
AksumkA isnt that literally all of them? one of the biggest problems with wallbase was that there was way too much crap on there, is it wise to move all that here?
koalafishy: One thing to bear in mind is while you may think a particular wallpaper is crap, there is probably some individual who thinks it is a worthwhile wallpaper.
Given proper filtering controls the volume shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Of course, I'm just spouting off what I think, so take my words with a grain of salt.
lurker RE:@koalfishy: WELL said. One man's crap is another man's wealth. The key is good tagging so people can filter... tagging which admittedly currently on wallhaven tends towards crap. I just hope that's because uploads are for tests only, we know everything will be scrapped. OTOH once public tagging / tag-voting or something like that works at least the burden won't be on uploaders only. For example on wallbase my small contribution were exactly 4 wallpapers but several hundreds of tags :-). Koalafishy keep that in mind. Maybe some kind of user preference "hated tags" (autofilter) could be handy.
hhman lurker sorry thats not what i meant, i realize that everyone has different tastes, I was on about all the upscaled, low res, screenshot crap
I have no problem looking through thousands of images i don't like as long as they are of a good quality. as an example went back to wallbase, and first random page i went on had this gem: http://wallbase.cc/wallpaper/1879203
