Wyrelade Gotta look into that uploads counter. We actually have tons of corrupt data from the various changes we made so far, which is why we need to reset. A lot of it is just fubar.

We are going to upload all the wallpapers we saved from wallbase after the reset. The reason is simply that the most important feature we can ever have is just lots and lots of (good) wallpapers.

Meanwhile we will actually have to delete all the accounts as well and we don't have backups of those from wallbase.

When I recently uploaded this http://alpha.wallhaven.cc/wallpaper/72500 the system said me that 'something went wrong' and deleted my first uploaded wall, there was something about diablo in tags and in source field was the link: http://tamplierpainter.deviantart.com/art/Retribution-439292138 That's kinda weird.

@Blu3bird: Don't know what i'm doing wrong, but when doing a generic search that takes off anime and people I'm still getting a significant amount of people in the results.

That is because people are not properly selecting the people category during upload.

Wyrelade well over here if I open wallhaven from its home page and go to latest, NSFW & sketchy are checked by default when clicking on "latest" if I uncheck NSFW & sketchy, then apply it works fine if I click on wallhaven & then "latest" again NSFW & sketchy are both checked again

so I went as far as going into my setttings & disable sketchy & NSFW went back to home page & then latest works fine I get absolutely no NSFW or sketchy

I was adding the tag #spaceships to this wallpaper, but looks like it got tagged twice, both leading to the same URL. Bug?

Not necessarily. Whenever I selected the correct category, I noticed that it wasn't applied after I completed the uploads.

chibi For example, I just uploaded this wallpaper and made sure that it was selected under People, but if I go do a search with People excluded, it still shows up.

Is there going to be a feature where if we are mentioned like Jailout2000 that we will get notified via e.g. email?

Jailout2000, make sure you're hitting that "apply to all/selection" button under the categories. They only get applied when you hit that.

We're going to improve the upload process sooner or later.

And to answer your other question about user name mentions, no, probably not.

Feels great to have such a website again! You did a great job, I'm digging the new design. I just think the upload screen before the final "done" button needs some redesign, but that just might be me. I forget I'm not tagging the whole bunch of wallpapers I've uploaded and I end up uploading them untagged. But in any case, awesome website. I can't wait for it to fully release!

Have been searching for an alternative to wallbase for a while now and saw this mentioned somewhere, loving it so far! Great job guys!!

I read that dude question about tags and though it would be nice if you could search for :

• 0 tags pages
• 1 tags pages
• 2 tags pages and so on, maybe up to 4 or something

would allow to not only tag images with no tags but also those with very low tag count

just an idea, use it if you think it's good ;)

Instead of using purity and categories, why not just use 4 more tags - "sketchy", "NSFW", "Anime", "people"? I believe the site will be working better and the usability will be enhanced, you know, the simplest construction is the most working. Please answer me AksumkA or Gandalf or anyone, I am really interested about this.

@dwemer There's no advantage to it. On the other hand there is lot's of special functionality that can't be mirrored by regular tags. Like hiding NSFW wallpapers from guests, preventing wallpapers from being both SFW and NSFW etc. We'd also have to enforce adding one of those tags, which would suck. Basically purity and tags are just completely different things. The categories are probably less necessary.

@gunz4 not sure what you're saying.

Wyrelade: search criteria get reset. You can change your defaults in Settings -> Browsing if you want them to stick.

stako: I think we were reconsidering the upload page so it's more usable.

@gunz4: that's probably because we don't have options yet for greater/less than - entering "999x820" would fail to find anything because I doubt we have any walls with those dimensions.

@Replica Fixed, you might need to clear your cache to see the new update.

The site feels pretty slow. What kind of server resources are being utilized? Is this ran on many cloud instances/machines, or is it only a single machine/instance?

Also, what kind of software is being used to store the tagging information on wallpapers, the color palette information, etc.? My guess would be Cassandra or MongoDB, but I guess it could be relational-based instead (e.g. MySQL), which is where I would assume user data is stored. It could make sense to keep it all in the same place for easier data manipulate/aggregation.

Of course, the above if answered would probably be subject to change especially as the site grows in size and code is changed, but at present would be nice to know.

I think it would be useful to add the feature the wallhaven to save currenly viewing page in browser's URL bar. The reasons:

1. When the inet connection interrurpts the user could just click the 'Reload' button. / This reason is the most important for me /
2. Working 'Back' button. Not so important but pretty useful too :)

How about a "Download a collection" -feature? It would be nice to save all the favorites with only a couple of clicks right before you reset the site.

Jailout2000 We're currently running MariaDB and HHVM on a single dedicated machine and server resources like CPU, Disk IO, and Memory, are all well below their max capabilities. Our problem right now is bandwidth, we're working with an advertised cap of ~250Mbps (the max I've seen us do is ~100Mbps).

We are however looking into cost effective solutions to increase our bandwidth capabilities, so stay tuned.

Hope that this will be almost the same as wallbase :D looking forward to this :D
