That image is a real shot by Jerzy Gorecki. Detectors say 95%+ real. The eyes may be misleading, but she is wearing contact lenses that sometimes give a strabismum feeling due to how they reflect light.

It's a bit counterintuitive to ban people who do AI illustrations when there are other solutions! Look at the Pixiv website. It has a general section for everyone and a section for artists where they can sell their illustrations, and AI is prohibited there... there's no need to ban users who use AI. Why don't artists use copyrighted characters on this site? They should be banned too. Only artists who create their own art should remain!

Absolutely - posting screenshots from games/films is hardly being creative. But hey it's not AI so it's allowed....

As a newcomer, let me also talk about my own views. I think it is wise to strongly ban art products generated by artificial intelligence! It is extremely unfair to the painter himself that the work he devotes his efforts to create can't be compared with the time of artificial intelligence。Paintings made by artificial intelligence are completely pinched by rigid procedures. If this thing can replace the painstaking efforts of painters, it is really finished, so I agree with a complete ban. I have finished what I have to say

However, after thinking about it, artificial intelligence itself is right. After all, artificial intelligence is still serving people. What is really wrong is that those who take the pictures generated by the program are inferior. People who have a bad impact on the Internet environment, uh... Therefore, my opinion is that the core of the problem is still the user 😧

Sounds like censorship, on a website that collects copyrighted images.

Start putting a stop to this unbearable spam from Asian women in the NSFW section already! Ever since this started, it's been such a waste of time coming here!

There are lots of AI 'art' being uploaded on the site. And I don't blame the owners of this site. There is no way to check and verify for legit vs AI pictures anymore. This is the reality we live in today.

Yeah even I have to carefully check twice before uploading nowadays AI is everywhere.

It is getting harder to identify completely AI images, but the spirit of this website and of setting art as a PC wallpaper existed long before these diffusion engines took their first breaths. And for the most part wallpapers have been digital paintings, renders, and screenshots, which is largely what is till is today.

I think this website should stay a collection of well-tagged, properly credited, internally hosted original works, with a semi-active non-reddit non-discord forum. New websites that want to collect AI images, or even generate them, can come up alongside too.

So many of us came here from wallbase and other prior iterations. It is important to preserve the original vision of the internet alongside the new visions, and each will have their merit depending on who you ask and what you need. We don't come here to consume, we come here to celebrate and share. Museums still stand despite the advent of cinemas, and earth will still hold even when AI inexorably sweep our planet into its new era.

    Hi wallhaven community,

Personally I truly agree with the proposition of viddlenchaire said:

Firstly I respect the decision. I am just a humble user of this site. I don't know my opinion is relevant or not, and i really don't want to complain, but I feel some disturbance in the Force. From 1.2M pics what the site shows, there are only 30k tagged as AI, and i think some of it has real values. At least, not in a less rate than in the non-AI content. It seems to me this is an absolutely minor problem, rather it's not a problem at all, or at least the site is handling it already perfectly. So why it must be banned? AI is just another brush in creators hand, if a picture isnt good, that is always the problem of the creator, not the tool. If you really want lure artists to come here, i think it would be better to deal with the fact, at least 50% of the site content is brainless soft porn, basically most of them are the same picture but with another woman. I use this site to inspire myself. When i browse the precious Random to collect ideas, i see much more nearly identical pornographic content than valuable art. well, it isn't a problem to me, we can hide NSFW content too (well, i will not, i am a man of culture as well :D), but if i dont want to see, i can hide AI too, I don't really understand why it is better if you're simply denying already filterable content, and not let the user decide if they want to see it or not, like how it is works nowadays absolute perfectly. So I feel this decision causeless. Well, it isnt much of a loss, and I can't see what you can see operating the site, so as i said, i don't want to complain, i just really don't understand, why is it necessary. I rather miss a rating system to let the audience to judge and evaluate the content, so that would be my idea instead of this simple censorship. Pls don't ban me, i just want to help to make the site better, well, even if it's perfect already.

That the user choose what they want to see but i completely understand that shity AI content that not have a artistique perspective or reflexion and mostly spammy can be a problem for the site.

That why for me I think the proposition of viddlenchaire is good solution better than a censorship that we to much see un nowdays but maybe a moderation or a flag protocol to avoid AI spam art can be more valuable for the community. I think that way we do not censor good content create with the help of AI as a tool to make cool picture that the community love like lafnir show.

Like in this picture we can agree that there is a research of beauty in this picture https://wallhaven.cc/w/x6ewo3 plus heaven if something is created with AI there still a human that validated this art. The problem appears when it's automate.

    What do you Think ?

Thank you to care of the website !

Unfortunately, a year later, many people still harbor an irrational hatred for the tool (someone even deleted the wallpaper you linked). In the meantime, professional artists (I am in contact with several) have incorporated the tool into their workflows, though they obviously won't publicize that fact. Artworks that are either fully generated or partially assisted by AI continue to appear here, yet without proper identification. Fortunately, there are still voices speaking to the tool's utility—including Linus Torvalds recently; he is someone who made the internet as we know it—and this type of discussion—possible.
