About people deleting tags

Have any of you guys had suddendly get the tags of your uploads getting deleted by someone else? It has happened to me more than once and it's kinda annoying.

Happend to me a hundred times. It would be so much better when the uploads and their Tags would be "locked", so no one can remove them or add wrong or stupid tags to them. But this wil never happen, just because it's way too much work.

Totally agree, the only way to lock the tags is that your wallpaper gets featured on the front page. :(

We need a "Tag-Worker" who starts at Page 000001, checks every tag and then locks every Wallpaper, one after another. And then we need soon a new one, because the first has become totally nuts. :-)

yeah..... i was looking for some pic on one tag and one day there was 200k pics now its only 30k >_> why the hell people do that :/

Yes, it is really depressing when you tag 100 Walls and in the next week your work is destroyed by some ***. I repeat it for the 100th time, the tags must be locked. And when it takes 10 Years to do it. It would increase the quality of the Site immensly. But i will not mention this again or ask for it in the future.

Are we talking about wholesale/malicious tag deletion or just name tags? I've noticed the names of the models for my uploads occasionally disappear on uploads no more than a month old occasionally. I just assumed that whoever was doing it was disagreeing with my initial ID. Unfortunately, it's a bit hard to respond or counter with a link when you just don't know who's tampering with your tags.

Perhaps we should make tag logs visible to a wallpaper's uploader to increase accountability?

I created the "FaceApp" tag since "Photoshop" already exists and it was removed and deleted.

Pretty sure only Mods can do that so they obviously disagree with alternate methods of editing being labelled.

When a whole tag is deleted and therefore not able to be remade we should get a DM or something explaining why with the option to appeal.

You can use the "Photoshopped" tag. FaceApp is not a substitute for Photoshop.

3 years ago i would remove tags thinking it would be to modify my preferences for the next "More like this" option. so i was looking for more uploads with the same tag group except for 1 of the tags for example. at the time i didn't see the reasoning for having the option to let anyone "mess" with the tags on someones uploads.

i just thought it was an easy way of navigating to what i like.

why can anyone edit any uploaders tag in the first place?

Because the original uploader may not know all the information about the wallpaper or may simply tag it incompletely; so tagging by others could be useful.

I fully agree with that. I am not used to post on forums but I feel very strongly about this subject. It takes me a lot of time to tag correctly my uploads and then there are those people who don't like your tags and decide to delete them just for the fun of it... because it's so funny, right?... Sometimes they even delete my tags the same day of my uploads...

I don't mind when people add legit tags to my uploads -I do the same- but those people who delete valid tags are really annoying and I no longer have the patience to tag for a second time what I had already done.

I really think tags should be locked but that's just my silly opinion...

I totally agree that having tags disappear on you is annoying. But, a certain amount of tag maintenance is necessary. So, there needs to be a balance.

Personally, what I would consider fair would be when other users delete a tag, that would be a suggestion, and wouldn't be finalized until the original user, or an admin approved it. So, I guess, I would want partial locks. Does that sound like something you could get behind on?

As far as I am concerned, I'm not opposed to this idea...

Old thread but no, we will not be locking the tags or doing anything unless required. I mainly watch over everything, warning users and making sure tags aren't removed unnecessarily. Like lumberjacck said, sometimes someone else can add new tags or notice something in the wallpaper that they can add the tag to that someone missed.

The current way is great. The only suggestion I would make is adding something like a comments section to each picture so that removals can be explained. I.E. "not every anime girl with white hair is 2B." or "not every anime girl with blue hair is Bulma." to prevent people putting incorrect tags back where they don't belong repeatedly
