Currently tag search searches fuzzily for a tag/keyword. And per the API the way to do an exact tag search is to use id (id:123 ). But shouldn't there also be a way to do an exact word search? For example, I want to search for 'ice', but not 'ice cream' or 'ice cubes' or any other combinations thereof. In a Google search I could enclose the word in quotes to get an exact match. But that doesn't work here. Is there some other workaround that will let us do an exact word search?

Nobody forces you to use api. Type ice, open one image with ice, and click desired tag. Voilà! Examples: id:358 for ice, id:3873 for ice cream, id:4785 for ice cubes, id:160529 for ice cube
