Really? Why? I thought the purpose of subscriptions was to be notified every time a new wallpaper is published under a category, but this means I may not be reliably notified because my subscriptions can just disappear.

It's because the subscription feed can become overburdened and put a strain on the server, decreasing general performance, for everyone.
