Provide a way to download all wallpapers (through torrents)?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is okay to be asking, but is there a way to download every wallpaper hosted in this site, other than scraping the site using the API? (Which is not recommended according to the FAQ)

Maybe it would be possible if the site provides a way to download all of the wallpapers, possibly through torrents? That way there would be little to no maintainance or cost in sharing the wallpapers (other than seeding the zip files? I'm not entirely sure how that works though), and probably lessen the amount of API requests (if that is a problem).

Its a good idea, but hundreds of gigabytes at the very least would be too much to seed for most people.

Think about the server load for just 1 user making that decision. There's been scraper problems in the past the slowed the site down to a minute a page. Not a good idea

That's a good point, but I think it would be enough if only a few people seed it. If this idea ever materializes, I would be happy to seed it myself too.

If the files would be hosted on the wallhaven servers, or some external cloud storage like Google Drive, then you're absolutely right -- that would slow down the servers and cost a lot.

What I'm proposing, though, is for the site owners to compress all the wallpapers onto a zip file (or another format), and then provide that as a torrent. That way, all the uploading and file transferring is offloaded to the users. They would still have to initially upload the files though -- long enough that the users have the entire file, and after that, the users can just be the ones uploading/seeding the file.

I think that's the gist of how torrents work, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know about downloading ALL the wallpapers on the site, but the idea of being able to download multiple wallpapers at a time is quite appealing to me, even if it's just all the walls under a particular tag or collection or even a single page. I think a "batch download" or "download all" button would be a big help and probably a huge turning point for the site, cuz I know a couple of people who don't use the site just because of the inconvenience of having to manually download all the wallpapers one by one. There's not even a download button, you have to install an extension for that. So I highly recommend adding "download wallpaper" and "batch download" buttons/features.

Wallhaven Downloader, still works just fine despite the thread being 3 years old. Obviously cannot download everything but it works just fine if you're downloading favorites, etc.
