Only Anime, General and People as topic filter?

    Just saying it straight.

Gaming defenitely needs its own filter. Sometimes when you just wanna scroll for some new wallpaper all you see is lame screenshots from games photoshop'd by 3rd class and 12 y o pubescent.

And even if you find yourself finding those "wallpapers" nice, just go for Random and count. The amount is so huge it just needs its own filter. I mean, Anime has one right?

    love you all

I think this is a throwback to how Wallbase used to scrape 4chan for walls but I'm not sure.

Semen, (What the...) Tl;Dr : Use tags to describe "Game wallpapers" within the general category.

These are not the only filter. You can: 1) Search by tags e.g: "games" or #games in the search bar. 2) Filter by purity. 3) Filter results to get a certain resolution/ratio. 4) Sort Wallpapers by Relevance/Date added/Views..etc 5) Search category.

Think of "People" and "Anime" as categories rather than just tags that describe wallpapers. Categories have limits. Tags, however, don't.

"People" groups every wallpaper that contains human beings. "Anime" groups every wallpaper that contains any sort of Japanese style (ah... Japan™) "General" groups every wallpaper that: 1)is not based on an anime film/tv show. 2) doesn't have a human being.(this includes the "gaming" tag)

I'd certainly vote against another ugly drop-down list. For what? I already have everything I need. A search bar and 5 awesome simple filters. Simple. Clean. Efficient.

When you search for something on wallhaven, you are basically searching for wallpapers that fall under every tag that is relevant to your search term. That being said... "People"(Category) has tags.. e.g: model. "Anime"(Category) has tags.. e.g: Vocaloid. Wallpapers under these categories can share some if not most tags. e.g: Cleavage, Eyes and etc.. (Because, apparently, anime girls are girls!) However, "Anime" wallpapers cannot be described using "real" tag and "People" wallpapers cannot be described using the "Hatsune Miku" tag (unless it is a name).

Of course, I excluded some points such as: paintings of people (other art) and tv shows (real house wives (hehehe) and etc...) headache. (^How I view it/ Just my opinion!)

You'll have to search for what you want and decide under what category it falls, at least for the time being. You'll end up either with an anime girl with a game controller or some mainstream game wallpaper/high resolution logo.

defurious Check /wg/. They've got some decent high resolution wallpapers.

Maybe it is my bad english. Sorry I gotta ask again. Did u describe a way I can get rid of those gaming-semi-wallpaper/screenshots ?

Semen, Ahh... Sorry :\ I thought you were searching for good game wallpapers. Go here and add the following to the "Tag Blacklist":

    video games Games glitch art

    OPTIONAL:

    murder square typography LEDs

    ///

Another solution would be blacklisting the user uploading such crap.

Well did not help since everyone is only tagging the name of the game. But thanks for trying anyways.

Still thinking there should be a gaming sector.

Semen, Okay.. I've managed to get every GOD DAN game name tag. -------->2970 tags<-------- You're Welcome Edit: There seems to be some character limit. Well, in that case, I believe we should be able to blacklist subcategories, as well as categories. In the meantime, add "screen shot" and "video games" Edit: Well, sht... AksumkA said:

The way we're currently indexing wallpapers won't let us do blacklisting of categories. As for the limits, we don't want to expand it too much due to performance concerns, but we may be able to give it another bump.

    Bump.

well, all those wallpapers need the game tag if they come from a game. This is after all a community driven website, if you feel like it maybe you could start adding the tag ? ;)

Holy about the character limit of blacklists : this is pretty obvious that a 2970 long blacklist wouldn't work

the solution to this is that all those 2970 tagged wallpaper need the "game" tag and then blacklist the "game" tag so either people start adding this tag if they feel like it. Or need to wait for mass tagging tools which are planned for who knows when.... it's a lot of work :)

2970 tags to get rid of screenshots. Now tell me again how gaming does not need an own section.

That is like the biggest joke I have read so far to get rid of the problem.

it's the truth, sorry you don't like it, I guess you're one of those who just want to use & not contribute... & in any case, whether tag or category the work to tag (or move to a category) each wallpaper will have to be done.

I guess however that if & when mass tagging tools become a reality it'll be much easier to do this.

In the end there's very little difference between filtering in & out based on tag, compared to a category, except it might be simpler to have a category for your particular usage, but imho 3 is enough categories already, if more are added, then where will it stop .....
