Is it time to opensource Wallhaven's codebase?

    Hi everyone,

As a long time user and uploader to Wallhaven (9 years), I'm getting the feeling that Wallhaven is beginning to stagnate as more and more feature requests and bug fixes go unimplemented these past few years.

What surprises me is that for a community as passionate as this one, why hasn't the source code for Wallhaven's been made available on either GitLab or GitHub so that volunteers can start working collaboratively to improve everybody's overall user experience?

The problem is that you'll get cheap copies of the website that hosts whatever people upload (0 moderation) and be full of ads/malware and whatnot, easily shadowing wallhaven.

This was a worry long before Ai, we can't imagine how fast things might spiral out of control nowadays.

You mention bugs, but most of what i can see are rare cases and minor issues. if it wasn't for the forum spam, things would've been perfect for me.

I think that if the team needed more power, they would've asked for it.
