Improving the Rule34 Tag to Respect Original Images and Artists

I'll explain what Rule34 is for those of you who are unfamiliar with it:

Rule34 is a website that offers millions of free pornographic images and videos, along with SFW, Sketchy, and NSFW images similar to Wallhaven (though they are not identical).

So, why did I write this post:

I created this post because the original image and the names of the artists have been cropped out.

If you go to rule 34 tag, and you may look at all the post and say, "They all look good. What is wrong with it? There is nothing wrong in this Rule34 tag." It's easy to overlook that at first glance, but if you copy the image from any post and use it in Google Image Search, you can visit the Rule34 website or the original links if you were able to successfully in finding it.

You'll see the difference between the cropped and artist-nameless image that was posted to Wallhaven on the rule 34 tag. Additionally, you'll see that the image on the Rule34 website includes the original link to the artist's social media accounts and name.

Now, I am not saying that rule 34 tag should be removed but if you are going to upload on Wallhaven and you cannot find the original links and artists to the image then you can add rule 34 tag, which we can understand where you got it from even if you don't have the original link to the image and artists name.

How can we improve the rule 34 tag:

• 1. If you got the image that you want to upload on Wallhaven from Rule34 with no original link and artist's name that you cannot find, and you did some research, then add rule 34 tag base on the image that you found.
• 2. If the Image has original link and artist's name from Rule34, then do not add rule 34 tag.

Conclusion:

If you don't think this is a good idea or good way to improve the tag, then I deeply respect that, but again so many images that were cropped out and there are some artists names and original image that doesn't need to be put in rule 34 tag as it already got the link and artists name.

That all I have to say, and I would love to hear your feedback or opinion about the post I created.

I would say "rule 34" is not a website, it's taking anything that exists in culture, and making a porn version of it.

Rule 34 has been around longer than the website(s) and is separate from any websites. Here is the original webcomic where the term came to be.

So, I disagree that the tag is for "the website" when there isn't one "the website". I agree that it's probably a tag that maybe doesn't make sense to use for the most part. Maybe it should just be a combination of a "pop culture" tag and NSFW. Even the above websites probably have a lot of generic porn stuff that doesn't fit the definition of "rule 34". Either way, people will just dump a load of porn and use rule34 as a nickname for it, so yeah, probably not a worthwhile tag.

I see now. It's a webcomic meme that began with Rules 1 through 34 and ended with Rule 34 before the websites were even created. Thank you for that!

I absolutely agree with your suggestion that the Rule34 tag could be replaced with "pop culture + NSFW" since it would make more sense. Since most people are unaware of the Rule 34 culture that existed before the websites, that would reduce the careless posting of random pornographic content.

You're absolutely right, my man, when you say that citing sources and honouring original artists are admirable goals that should not be associated with any particular label.
