Can I use Wallhaven images for automated wallpaper setting?

    Hello Wallhaven team,

I’m developing an app that can set device wallpapers automatically using Wallhaven. The app fetches the image URL and renders it directly as the device’s wallpaper. The app does not save, cache, or redistribute the image file, users only see the wallpaper on their screen, and no image files are stored or accessible.

Is this kind of usage allowed under Wallhaven’s terms, especially for commercial apps (e.g., ad-supported or paid)? Is this considered acceptable since there is no redistribution or saving of image files?

Thank you for your time and clarification!

John's Background Switcher does exactly that, so I assume it should be fine

John's Background Switcher is also free but OP mentions that the app is supposed to be commercial, so they want to generate some kind of revenue with it.

For most other projects that i've seen, not necessarily on here, the moment money comes into play these things are rejected.

What's interesting to me is that he actually has a paid version for macOS, which makes it technically a commercial use as well. That’s notable because platforms like Unsplash now explicitly prohibit wallpaper apps, and Pixabay disallows redistribution of content without modification, and he has both in the commercial macOS version.

Try this. Also, API integration is completely free (with some limitations OFC, 45 requests per minute, but it's A LOT) if you know what you do.
