Why many people hate AI art?

Adding the tag "AI Art" is a respectful gesture towards those who do not like AI art. Not everyone has to like AI art, whether they like it or not is a personal choice. Adding the tag "AI Art" allows people to make their own choices.

AI "art" is ugly, uninspiring, bland and boring. Even when it looks "good", ultimately it is just something generated by an algorithm and lacks any thought or substance.

It's soulless, unoriginal and waste of resources such as energy and water.

Because it doesn't do a very good job for one. The second reason is because AI basically steals from countless human artists and uses their art as a template to create really shitty images. So AI is theft.

As far as using AI for upscaling images... I have no problem with as long as it preserves the original artwork without adding alterations.

As art, it fails because there is no dialogue between the creator and the observer. It can say nothing because it was not created with any kind of intentionality- it is a tool for users who can only craft the barest outlines of the desired end.

As an image they fail because the algorithm does not know what it is creating and the images are of extremely low quality- usually a cursory glance reveals glaring flaws even at thumbnail resolutions, and anything higher reveals the ridiculously poor nature of the design. The reason that ai art output on this site is largely divided between porn and sweeping, maximalist vistas is because they hope the initial impression of the image will be enough to cover up the issues. It isn't, it never will be, because they think they have one tool (an ai that draws) and they have another (an algorithm that statistically models what should be next based on associations derived from prior art).

I agree with that, them looks like a realistic sculptures, beautiful but lifeless.
