Search is broken, returning fewer (or even 0) results

An example: 1) Start with a recent upload, e.g. https://wallhaven.cc/w/l87v1p 2) Click on the "Acheron (Honkai: Star Rail)" tag 3) This results in https://wallhaven.cc/tag/151308 3a) As I post this, the image count is 45 3b) The page displays a 3x5 grid, so 15 of the 45 reported (So far, this is all expected behavior.) 3c) Click on the "More Acheron (Honkai: Star Rail) wallpapers" button 4) This results in https://wallhaven.cc/search?q=id:151308 4a) As I post this, the search reports "6 Wallpapers found for #Acheron (Honkai: Star Rail)". Definitely fewer than 45, and less than the 15 shown on the previous page. 4b) Re-enabling the AI filter and reloading changes the url to "https://wallhaven.cc/search?q=id%3A151308&categories=111&purity=111&sorting=relevance&order=desc&ai_art_filter=0", but no change in the results. (As expected in this case, except for there still being only 6 results.)

In other instances, the "More X wallpapers" button returns NO results, even though I only used existing links on the site. It's not a filtering issue, since I'm explicitly enabling all to verify.

Could this be an issue with a JOIN clause? (Recently zerochan had an issue where users who were logged in could not browse, although anonymous viewers could. That one turned out to be an unoptimized JOIN which caused all results after the first page to be suppressed.)

I've noticed this behavior for a few weeks now, but it's only an issue when I'm looking for previous uploads for the same artist, character, or model.

    Thanks!

I have a similar problem. Even when I have the relevant resolution enabled in my profile, the More Wallpapers button leads to an empty page, when I know there should be at least one or two to display.

I think I solved my issue:

One of my preferred resolutions (2048x1152) wasn't in the correct position. It was placed after 3840x2160, instead of 1920x1080.

Just sorted that out, and it seems to be fixed.

EDIT: Okay, it seems I really was being a complete idiot. The major problem for me seemed to be the fact that, under Aspect Ratio in the Browsing Settings, I had put down 16x9 and 16x10. This is fine in most cases, but if I search for any wallpapers => 1920x1080, it blocks any wallpapers that don't fit that Aspect Ratio.

distelfink813 and saber83 can you both send a screenshot of your browsing settings page: https://wallhaven.cc/settings/browsing

I'm guessing you both have something set in there that's either formatted wrong, or there just aren't any matching wallpapers for these search results.

Acheron (Honkai: Star Rail) doesn't have any 1920x1080 uploads for example.

Funny you should mention that. The browsing settings (in ss-2 below) shows 16x9, 16x10, but I didn't set that... ss-1 ss-2 ss-3

Thanks for the clue about 1920x1080 uploads on my example. I deleted the aspect ratios entry and updated. Now the search is working as it did before.

But I have no idea how that got set in my saved options... As you can see in ss-3, no aspect ratios were selected...and the cats are not allowed in my study, so no kitten on the keys action like my wife gets... ;-)

Next time, I'll look there first. Thanks again!!

I know this thread is a bit older but I've noticed this for a while too. Things will show up in my Subscriptions but those same image-IDs won't show when clicking on the tag (which is expected due to the 15 limit, although it should probably show the 15 most recent), or when using the search or "More wallpapers" button.

The filters was the first thing I checked and no filters were active. I tried selecting a filter to then unselect it too (thinking it might override whatever was saved before), but now the resolution filter is stuck and I don't see how I can unselect my selection.

Either way, I entered 1x1 as a custom resolution and still not everything is showing up. Luckily the filter seems to reset when doing a new search, although I'm not sure if that's intended or part of the issue.

Example: https://wallhaven.cc/tag/121136 - 45 images as of this posting https://wallhaven.cc/search?q=id%3A121136 - 28 images as of this posting

    More extreme example: https://wallhaven.cc/tag/59776 - 295 images https://wallhaven.cc/search?q=id%3A59776 - 72 images

There's certainly more but it's easier to check with more obscure tags.

edit: Must have skipped a post earlier, I just noticed there was talk about the browsing settings in the account settings, I thought it was referring to the search itself. And indeed there is 16x9,16x10 in the aspect ratios. But as you can see on the screenshot above, this is not reflected in the search, and it's also impossible to turn it off for a single search. Even applying the filter in the search and then removing it doesn't change the results. This is in contrast with the category and purity filters in the settings which are merely a default, and not an enforcement.

Should note that yes, removing the filter in the settings does bring every result back, but that's still.. "suboptimal".
