I use sites like Gelbooru and Sankakucomplex and we really need to copy their tag system. Every pic should have at least 10 to 15 tags to be uploaded, and the site needs a tag system to search for multiple tags at once and to exclude certain tags from the search result. Search example: "nature bend_over white_panties -group -topless". This search should lead to only results of pictures that has nature, people bending over with white panties and exclude all pics that has more than one people and topless. This would really make a great upgrade in the site.
We seriously need more tags
17516 17521 17522 ^ yeah, that's kind of the issue. Personally, I always try to tag with the "would anyone ever search for this tag" mindset (taking into account some subjectively weirder ones too), but for some of the General wallpapers it's just hard to pick... anything more than 2-4.
I like the idea of searching for multiple tags very much, though (isn't that implemented in some form already, though?).
17523 We seriously need more... (if not ALL) users to tag their uploads correctly.
17529 10 to 15 tags?
How many tags have your uploads? just curious.

This simple pic:
has 19 tags. Most pics on sankakucomplex and other booru sites have more than 25 tags. It's just quality.

17562 I would rather have tags that actually describe what is in the wallpaper than a wall of random text. When I see a wallpaper I try to tag it with as many reasonable tags as possible as to allow people to find it should they be searching for something with its characteristics, but when it comes down to it I'm not in the game of mindlessly adding filler tags. I see no point in tagging every single nature post with "green, brown, outdoors, etc." If it's a forest I'll tag it with forest nature and maybe some other descriptive details, but I do not see the point in tag clutter.

Yeah! 28 Tags. At least 24 of them absolute nonsens and useless.
Next Image we can overtagtag please post.

and you can't put a Price-Tag on it?
17590 😊 😊 😊
17591 Awesome!
17593 And of all that, the first band listed is Moonspell.
Man of culture.
17597 OK let's talk about something less extreme 😀
17598 What is the max amount of tags you can tag a wallpaper with?

I wouldn't be opposed to reading "leather texture" as an additional tag, because it really looks like a fine (faux) leather surface. Simple as a tag is too general, minimalism however would be fitting. Still not 15, but it can't be that hard thinking about what people might type to get this picture as a result.
Remember, even if it doesn't fit YOUR definitions of what it is or isn't, it might for other people. I'd rather have too many vaguely fitting results as not enough relevant ones. Not 10 minutes ago I needed to search for six different tags before I found what I was looking for, while I should've been able to find the picture I wanted with the first tag.
But nitpicking on details is really not the issue we should be focusing on when people fail to tag their uploads with such basic terms like "Asian" or "looking at viewer".
17601 The point you're missing is that overtagging can be just as annoying when looking for something specific. Searching for a tag that seemed straightforward in your head only to see that about 10% of the results have something to do with what you expected is pretty damn frustrating.
Great example of that for me is short hair. I'd expect to see women with, you know, short hair. Instead, seriously something like 10% of the results are actually SHORT hair, while most are shoulder length.
I agree that there are definitely plenty of undertagged wallpapers and there's lots to do in that regard (starting with trying your best with your own uploads, which I do), but overtagging everything to the point of absurdity backfires just as badly.
